Square Juliette Dodu

park garden

Square Juliette Dodu features a central bronze bust of a woman surrounded by quiet paths and tall, mature trees that shade the benches. This public garden occupies the former site of the Hôpital Saint-Louis maternity ward. Juliette Dodu herself was a telegraph operator who gained fame during the Franco-Prussian War by intercepting German military messages. She risked her life to pass these secrets to the French resistance, becoming a national hero. Her statue now watches over this calm corner of the tenth arrondissement.
