Ancien Usine Meccano

The former Meccano factory on rue des Cités features a striking facade of red brick and large glass bays that once flooded the interior with light for precision assembly. Frank Hornby founded the company to manufacture his metal construction sets here in the early twentieth century. Workers in this building produced millions of parts that fueled the imaginations of children across Europe. After the factory closed in the nineteen seventies, the structure sat empty until it became a rehearsal space for local theater troupes.
