Tolstoy Square

Square Tolstoï in the sixteenth arrondissement is a small, tranquil urban park that has served as a neighborhood retreat since its inception in nineteen thirty-four. Tucked along the boulevard Suchet, it offers a sharp contrast to the typical bustle of Paris with its quiet walkways and decorative features. The heart of the garden holds a unique fountain designed with three hexagonal basins that fit together like nested Russian dolls. Overlooking this fountain stands a marble sculpture titled Woman and Child, which has occupied this spot since the park first opened. You will also find a marble bust of the Russian author Leo Tolstoy here, installed decades later in nineteen fifty-five to commemorate his legacy.
