monument

This monument honors the deep historical ties between France and Serbia. Created by the French sculptor Maxime Real del Sarte in 1936, the bronze composition serves as a tribute to King Alexander the First of Yugoslavia and his father, King Peter the First of Serbia. It stands on the Square Alexandre Ier de Yougoslavie as a reminder of their shared alliance during the First World War. The monument depicts Alexander on horseback, with his father presenting him with a sword, flanked by Marshal Franchet d'Esperey and other historical figures who represent the friendship between the two nations.
