Théâtre de l'Atelier

The Théâtre de l'Atelier opened its doors in eighteen twenty-two under the name Théâtre Montmartre. It was commissioned by Pierre-Jacques Seveste, a man who held a unique theatrical license that allowed him to operate venues located just outside the official town limits of Paris. Because of this strategic location, his theaters could perform works that were often restricted or heavily regulated within the city center itself.
