Square Alain Bashung features a central paved area surrounded by high stone walls that deaden the noise of the surrounding streets. It occupies the former site of a freight station, where trains once delivered coal and goods into the heart of the Goutte d'Or neighborhood. When the rail lines closed, the city converted the dusty industrial wasteland into this quiet public garden. Alain Bashung, the legendary French rock singer who lived nearby, gave his name to the park in twenty-ten.
