Jardin Junot sits on a small plot of land on the slopes of the Montmartre hill. It serves as a rare, protected remnant of what was once known as the Maquis de Montmartre. This area was historically a rugged, shanty-style scrubland where fringe-dwelling artists and laborers lived in improvised homes long before the city moved in to formalize the streets.
