Jardin Louise Weber dite La Goulue

This small green space in the heart of Montmartre is named after Louise Weber, a woman who rose to international fame as the Queen of the Cancan. Known by her stage name La Goulue, or The Glutton, she earned her title as a teenager by dancing through local cabarets and drinking the unfinished glasses of champagne left behind by patrons. She became the defining star of the Moulin Rouge when it opened in the late nineteenth century, famous for her daring high kicks that could knock a gentleman's hat clean off his head.
