Café Terminus attack

event

The Café Terminus occupies the street level of the grand hotel sitting directly across from the Gare Saint-Lazare. Its heavy, ornate facade masks a moment in eighteen ninety-four when the cafe became a scene of violence. An anarchist named Émile Henry walked in, ordered a beer, and left a bomb behind. The explosion shattered the windows and wounded twenty people. Henry later testified that he wanted to strike at the bourgeoisie in a place they considered their own.
