Fontaine de Stalingrad

landmark

The Fontaine de Stalingrad stands as a cast-iron centerpiece, distinguished by its tiered basins and the four sculpted lions that guard the base. Originally commissioned for the Place de la Bastille in eighteen oh six, the fountain traveled across the city before settling here in nineteen sixty-seven. It represents a rare piece of nineteenth-century urban water engineering, moved from its intended home to anchor the modern landscape near the Bassin de la Villette. The bronze lions still watch the water flow today.
