The Dingo Bar opened its doors in nineteen twenty-three at ten rue Delambre, serving as an essential late-night sanctuary for the expatriate community of the Lost Generation. It was managed by Jimmie Charters, a former British lightweight boxer from Liverpool whose presence behind the bar lent the establishment a distinct, tough-but-welcoming atmosphere. The bar famously stayed open all night, providing a consistent refuge for writers and artists during a period when most other Parisian establishments would have long since locked their doors.
