The Theatre Edgar stands at number fifty-eight on the Boulevard Edgar-Quinet as a persistent home for live comedy in the Montparnasse district. It opened its doors in nineteen seventy-three, born from an ambition to revitalize the spirit of nineteenth-century Parisian guinguettes where local residents once gathered for music, drink, and relaxation. The venue initially operated as a café-théâtre, a specific type of intimate space that allowed audiences to enjoy a performance while seated at tables with refreshments.
