Hotel Lamballe

The Hotel de Lamballe stands as a quiet but imposing presence in the sixteenth arrondissement. While it serves today as the official residence of the Turkish Ambassador to France, its history stretches back four centuries. The estate was once the private retreat of the Princess de Lamballe, a close confidante of Queen Marie Antoinette, who purchased the property in seventeen eighty-three. Its location in the then-bucolic village of Passy offered the nobility a serene escape that remained conveniently positioned between Paris and the royal court at Versailles.
