Saint-Jean de Passy

Saint-Jean de Passy holds a unique place in the history of Parisian education, having been born from a legal standoff at the start of the twentieth century. When the French government passed laws in the early nineteen hundreds that prohibited religious congregations from teaching, the Brothers of the Christian Schools were forced to leave their established boarding school in Passy and relocate to Belgium. Refusing to let the institution disappear, a dedicated group of local fathers formed an association to take over the abandoned buildings. They successfully reconstituted the school as a private entity, ensuring the continuation of their children's education in the exact same location despite the shifting political landscape of the era.
