Villa Saïd is a secluded private cul-de-sac that carries a surprising historical connection to the Suez Canal. It was developed by Alphonse Hardon, an entrepreneur who invested in the monumental project to link the Mediterranean and Red Seas. He named the street in honor of Saïd Pacha, the ruler of Egypt who granted the original concession for the canal's construction in the mid-nineteenth century.
