Le Train Bleu (restaurant)

Le Train Bleu was built for the nineteen hundred Paris Exposition Universelle to serve as the grand buffet for the newly expanded Gare de Lyon. Architect Marius Toudoire designed the space as a palace for travelers, intentionally creating a sense of luxury that began the moment a passenger arrived at the station. Its primary purpose was to provide a refined dining experience for the wealthy elite embarking on long-distance journeys toward the south of France and the Mediterranean coast. President Emile Loubet personally inaugurated the hall in nineteen hundred one, cementing its status as an essential stop for royalty, artists, and high society.
