Eglise de la Sainte Trinité

The Eglise de la Sainte Trinité was built between eighteen sixty-one and eighteen sixty-seven to serve as a grand visual anchor for the neighborhood. Architect Théodore Ballu designed the structure specifically so that its silhouette would be visible from the back of the Palais Garnier opera house. This placement turned the church into a key element of the massive urban redesign carried out by Baron Haussmann during the Second Empire. To facilitate grand arrivals for the city's wealthy elite, the church includes unique side ramps that once allowed horse-drawn carriages to drop passengers directly under the central porch.
