The Ferreira House stands out in Ambewadi for its distinct Mangalorean-style red tiled roof and a wrap-around wooden balcony that feels entirely out of place amidst the surrounding concrete sprawl. Built in the late nineteenth century, this home served as the family residence for a prominent local clan during a time when this neighborhood was filled with quiet bungalows. When the city expanded, the owners refused to sell, choosing to keep their ancestral home tucked away even as high-rises grew around them.
