Mangaldas Market stands out as a sprawling, Victorian-era textile maze covered by a distinctive series of high, vaulted corrugated iron roofs. Built in nineteen oh six by the British architect Marshall Mackenzie, it was commissioned by a wealthy merchant named Mangaldas Nathubhai to provide a centralized space for the city's booming cloth trade. Merchants packed themselves into these narrow, winding corridors, creating a dense commercial hub that still functions as a primary destination for silk and fabric buyers across Mumbai today.
