Juma Masjid

The Juma Masjid sits at the center of Chippi Chawl, distinguished by its high, cream-colored walls and the large reflecting pool that occupies its interior courtyard. Built in the late eighteenth century, the mosque occupies a site that served as a reservoir for the local community long before the structure took shape. Its most striking feature remains the timber frame construction, which survived repeated monsoons and urban development for over two hundred years. The mosque continues to serve the Konkani Muslim traders who settled in this neighborhood.
