The Jama Masjid of Agra features three massive sandstone domes decorated with inverted lotus carvings and zigzag patterns of white marble inlay. Built by Jahanara Begum, the eldest daughter of Emperor Shah Jahan, this mosque stands directly across from the Agra Fort. Jahanara dedicated five years and five hundred thousand rupees to its construction in the middle of the seventeenth century. She once spent a significant portion of her personal allowance to fund the project, hoping it would bring peace to her father.
