Gulab Khana features a distinctive, elevated stone terrace that overlooks the narrow, winding lanes of the Kala Mahal neighborhood. Built during the height of the Mughal era, this structure served as a dedicated storehouse and laboratory for the royal perfumery. Within these walls, artisans distilled rose petals and exotic resins into concentrated oils for the imperial court. One morning, a visiting emissary recorded his surprise at the overwhelming scent of jasmine and sandalwood that clung to the very mortar of the building.
