Lohar Gali

Lohar Gali consists of a narrow, high-walled corridor where the metallic clang of hammers against iron fills the air from dawn until dusk. Generations of blacksmiths work in these cramped workshops, hammering out everything from household tools to specialized agricultural implements. The street takes its name from the lohars, or ironworkers, who established their forge here centuries ago to supply the burgeoning city. Today, sparks still fly from open doorways while workers shape red-hot metal on anvils settled directly into the stone pavement.
