Chanochimoto stands out in Yumoto for the long line of people waiting outside its wooden facade, usually clutching boxes of their signature yomogi dango. This confection shop has operated in Hakone since nineteen fifty. While other vendors sell various tourist snacks, this spot focuses on rice flour dumplings flavored with fresh Japanese mugwort, paired with a dense, sweet adzuki bean paste. Founder Tokuji Takasugi developed the recipe, and the shop continues to steam and wrap every single piece by hand each morning.
