Ishibe kōji road

Ishibe kōji road is identified by its narrow, cobblestone path lined with traditional wooden buildings and thick, weathered stone walls. It emerged in the early twentieth century after the Great Taisho Fire destroyed a large section of the area. Local entrepreneurs rebuilt the alley to host exclusive tea houses and private restaurants for the city's elite. Even now, the heavy wooden gates remain closed during the day, keeping the alley silent while life unfolds behind the lattice screens of the private residences.
