Kiosko Morisco

The Kiosko Morisco is a freestanding pavilion built entirely of cast iron, its design defined by intricate arches covered in complex, Islamic-inspired geometric patterns and vibrant stained glass. Created for the eighteen eighty-four New Orleans World Exposition, the structure served as the Mexican pavilion to showcase the country's national identity. When it returned to Mexico, it traveled from the Alameda Central to the Plaza de la República, before finally settling here in the nineteen thirties, surrounded by the neighborhood of Santa María la Ribera.
