Museo Universitario del Chopo

The two soaring steel towers at the Museo Universitario del Chopo resemble a giant iron bird trapped in the middle of Mexico City. Originally manufactured in Germany in nineteen hundred two, the structure was shipped across the Atlantic in pieces to serve as an art gallery. Engineers bolted the prefabricated skeleton together in the Santa María la Ribera neighborhood, where it became a landmark for experimental art. The metal ribs of the building rattle whenever a heavy truck rolls down the street nearby.
