Pilarica Karsapan

The heavy, ornate iron gate at Pilarica Karsapan sits flush with the weathered stone facade, framing a narrow entryway that seems to swallow the afternoon light. This building served as the private residence and workshop for a family of master weavers who supplied textiles to the cathedral in the late nineteenth century. The stone lintel above the door still bears the faint, hand-carved initials of the patriarch, who famously insisted on using only dyes imported from the port of Veracruz for his commissions.
