Palacio Postal

The Palacio Postal features a facade of ornate, honey-colored limestone covered in intricate carvings that resemble lace. Built in nineteen oh seven, this building served as the grand headquarters for Mexico’s postal service during the regime of Porfirio Diaz. Adamo Boari designed it to project national stability, importing bronze from Italy and marble from all over the world. During the revolution, workers famously hid the building’s gold leaf under layers of paint to keep it from being looted by passing soldiers.
