Ventana Arqueológica Calmecac Tenochtitlan (Centro Cultural España)

The glass floor here exposes the weathered stone walls of the Calmecac, the elite school where the children of Aztec nobility studied astronomy, warfare, and religious rituals. Before the Spanish conquest, this site housed the institution that trained the leaders of Tenochtitlan. When workers dug into the foundations of the nearby colonial buildings, they hit these volcanic rock structures. One discovery included a statue of a warrior that stood guard over the school entrance for centuries before the city buried it.
