The Museo del Instituto de Geología is a pale-yellow French-style mansion with an ornate stone facade tucked onto a quiet street in Santa María la Ribera. When it opened in nineteen zero six, it served as a research hub for scientists mapping the Mexican soil. Inside, the main hall displays a massive, complete skeleton of a mammoth discovered in the Valley of Mexico. A stained-glass window at the back of the gallery depicts a volcanic landscape, glowing in vivid colors above the fossilized remains.
