"Jorge Negrete" Theater

cultural

The Jorge Negrete Theater stands out for its bold, mid-century vertical sign spelling out the actor's name in large, glowing letters above the entrance. Built in the nineteen fifties, it serves as the headquarters for the National Association of Actors, Mexico's primary performers' union. Jorge Negrete himself was a legendary charro singer and one of the most famous figures in Mexican cinema. He helped found the union to protect artists from exploitation, and the building remains a working hub for union business today.
