Rick's Café

Rick’s Café is a three-story mansion built in the nineteen thirties, identifiable by the distinctive pointed archways of its entrance and the warm glow of its interior lanterns spilling onto the street. Kathy Kriger, a former American diplomat, opened it in two thousand four to recreate the gin joint from the film Casablanca. Even though the movie was filmed entirely in a Hollywood studio, Kriger spent years finding this spot to give the city a physical anchor for a fictional story.
