Bazylika Świętej Elżbiety Węgierskiej

The steeple of Saint Elizabeth’s Church rises over three hundred feet, a jagged stone needle piercing the Wroclaw skyline. This Gothic brick giant served as the parish church for the city’s wealthiest burghers, who funded its height to outdo the cathedral across the river. In nineteen seventy-six, a fire broke out in the organ loft, melting the historic instrument and charring the ornate interior. When the smoke cleared, the steeple remained, a scorched survivor watching over the market square.
