A bronze sculpture of an alphorn stands near the river, angled toward the mountain peaks. It marks the spot where the Swiss Alphorn Association holds its annual festival. While the wooden instruments echo through the valleys, this bronze version stays put throughout the winter, immune to the cracking and warping that affects real wood in the freezing mountain air. Artist Beat Ritzmann cast it to celebrate the centuries-old call of the shepherds, which once served as a primary signal across the high pastures.
