The Fontaine Inderbinen is a bronze fountain featuring a life-sized mountain guide leaning on a wooden staff. It honors Ulrich Inderbinen, a legendary Zermatt guide who climbed the Matterhorn thirty-seven times, his final ascent at the age of ninety-five. Local sculptor Stephan Perren designed the figure to capture Inderbinen’s characteristic posture. The fountain sits at the end of the main village street, fed by a stone basin that offers cold alpine water to anyone passing through the village center.
