Teşvikiye Palas stands out for its curved, corner-hugging facade decorated with intricate Art Deco stonework and geometric balconies. Built in nineteen thirty-two, the building served as a prestigious apartment complex for the city’s rising middle class during the early years of the Turkish Republic. Architect Şevki Balmumcu designed the structure to reflect the modern European aesthetics favored by the urban elite of that era. Tenants often found themselves living alongside well-known writers and artists who favored this specific neighborhood for its proximity.
