Aziziye Palas

The Aziziye Palas stands out for its weathered stone facade and the distinct iron balconies that curve along its Harbiye street corner. Built in the early twentieth century, this apartment block served the rising middle class of the late Ottoman era. Residents often recount how the building escaped the massive fire that leveled the surrounding timber houses in nineteen twenty-four. The stone walls kept the inferno at bay, leaving the structure intact while the neighborhood burned to the ground around it.
