The Macka Palas building features a distinctive pale yellow facade and deep, rounded balconies that curve around its street corner. Built in nineteen twenty-two, it began as an apartment house for wealthy residents, designed by the Italian architect Giulio Mongeri. He drew inspiration from the neo-Renaissance style popular in Europe at the time. For decades, the building served as a home for Turkish celebrities and elite families, housing the famous singer Sezen Aksu and author Abidin Dino within its thick stone walls.
