The Conran Building

The building standing at twenty-two Shad Thames is known as the Conran Building, a landmark of modern design nestled among the Victorian brick warehouses of the old riverside docks. It was originally constructed in nineteen ninety-one for the renowned silversmith and industrial designer David Mellor. The structure was the work of Sir Michael and Patty Hopkins, a husband-and-wife team celebrated as pioneers of the High-Tech architectural movement. They designed the building with a lean, modular concrete frame and large expanses of glass that create an open, airy workspace.
