Tabard Gardens

Tabard Gardens occupies a space that was once considered one of London's most notorious slum districts. Before this park opened in nineteen twenty-nine, the area was a dense collection of squalid courts and ancient, crumbling wooden buildings. The London County Council demolished these structures as part of an extensive slum clearance project, eventually transforming the site into a model residential estate. This park was specifically designed to provide essential green space for the thousands of residents moving into the new, modern housing blocks that now surround it.
