London Zoo

The London Zoo stands as the oldest scientific zoo in the world, having opened its gates to members of the Zoological Society of London in eighteen twenty-eight. It was the brainchild of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, who is also celebrated as the founder of Singapore. While its initial mission centered on serious scientific study rather than public spectacle, the site grew to become a landmark of natural history and public engagement.
