Madame Tussauds London

Marie Tussaud began her career by creating death masks of victims from the French Revolution. She learned the craft from her mentor, Philippe Curtius, who taught her to mold wax portraits of the social elite in Paris. When she arrived in London in the early nineteenth century, she brought with her a collection of these haunting figures, which included likenesses of royalty and revolutionaries alike.
