Redcliffe Square

Redcliffe Square sits on what was once open farmland within the manor of Earls Court. In the mid nineteenth century, the land was part of the Gunter estate, a property holding that defined the development of this entire district. The square emerged between eighteen sixty-four and eighteen seventy-eight when the Gunter family commissioned surveyor brothers George and Henry Godwin to transform the rural landscape into a dense residential enclave for London’s affluent classes.
