Camden People's Theatre

The Camden People's Theatre occupies a building that began its life as the Palmerston pub. When the theatre was founded here in nineteen ninety four, the space was essentially a derelict wreck prone to leaking ceilings and squatters. Those early years were defined by a shoestring budget and a persistent battle against the elements, with at least one visiting artist forced to perform in the foyer because of a burst pipe in the rooms above. This rugged, unpolished history helped shape the venue into a space where experimental artists felt they could take massive risks that more traditional stages would never permit.
