The Shed End

The Shed End at Stamford Bridge began as a purely functional structure built by the Greyhound Racing Association. In the nineteen thirties, they erected an asymmetrical roof over the south terrace to provide shelter for bookmakers and their betting customers during dog racing events that once took place on the pitch. It was not until the mid-nineteen sixties that a fan named Clifford Webb wrote to the club programme, urging supporters to congregate under this specific roof to create a dedicated, vocal end to rival the atmosphere found at other famous grounds. The name stuck, and the area transformed from a simple shelter into a legendary hub for the club's most fervent supporters.
