The Hellenic Centre

As you approach the Hellenic Centre on Paddington Street, look closely at the Portland stone and red brick facade. If you raise your eyes above the grand front porch, you can still see an inscription carved into the stone that reads Central Institute for Swedish Gymnastics. This building was commissioned in nineteen ten as a training facility for a pioneering form of medical exercise and massage, which served as an early ancestor to modern physiotherapy.
