Built in eighteen fifty on the Walworth Villa Estate, the structure was originally intended to be a children's home and industrial school. However, the pressing need for adult relief meant that before the doors even fully opened for its intended purpose, the facility was repurposed to house hundreds of adults in a strictly regulated environment.
