Brick Lane

Brick Lane began as a simple dirt path winding through open fields in the fifteen hundreds. Its name holds the literal memory of its industrial origin, as the ground here was rich with clay that became vital for manufacturing bricks and tiles. After the Great Fire of London in sixteen sixty-six decimated the city, the demand for these materials skyrocketed, and the kilns operating at the northern end of this lane turned the area into a critical production site for the rebuilding of the capital.
