The Allitsen Road drill hall stands as a relic of the volunteer military movement that shaped the defense of Britain in the early twentieth century. Completed in 1912 on what was then called Henry Street, the building served as the primary headquarters for the 3rd County of London Yeomanry, better known as the Sharpshooters. This regiment occupied the site to conduct their training and manage military administration, rooting a specialized cavalry unit directly into the local fabric of St. John's Wood.
